I am a coastal geomorphologist studying the feedbacks between earth surface processes and environmental economics. Using this disciplinary blend, my research focuses on identifying the key drivers of developed coastal behaviors to understand how they will change under future sea-level rise, wave climate, and resource economic conditions. See my CV and research pages for more.

I am fortunate enough to live in my research system on the urbanized New Jersey coast, allowing me to experience the tangible consequences of our local beach management policies. There, I am the Secretary of the Bradley Beach Environmental Commission and a volunteer on the Bradley Beach Oceanfront Development Task Force as part of my Borough's Master Plan. I am also a Special Advisor to the Bradley Beach Democratic Delegates for the Monmouth County Democratic Committee.

The time I spend in the sea inspires my study of coasts. Whether on a surfboard, in a kayak, on the sand, in the sky, on a bike, or under a setting sun, the simplicity of a salty breeze gives me life. I find that happiness is part and parcel of my personal feedback loop, fueling my passion to effect change in this world, and in turn providing a sense of accomplishment.

Not only do I enjoy being in the water, but I also take great pleasure in capturing these moments from behind a lens (see my photography page for more). As a bonus, check out my code art page for a portfolio of repurposed model mishaps that provide some stoke when wrestling with buggy code.
